For a long time I wanted to do this: write an introduction to Christianity for those who have never known Christ.
In a way, what I am doing is phenomenally redundant work. The Church IS the introduction to Christ. So is Mother Mary, so are the saints, so is the Sacred Liturgy.
There are SO many ways to get to Christ.
Yet, God in His great kindness saw to it that even I have a space, something to contribute. And so, as a young child is excited to teach his father how to spell, here I am—excited to evangelize.
I hope this will be the first in a long series of writings. At this point, I do not know what the format is going to be. I figured I will never be able to start if I wait to figure that out first.
Also, I am unsure who my eventual target audience is going to be either. I just feel every writing needs to address the needs of a particular audience. The obvious exception to that being the Bible, which is addressed to the whole of humanity—past, present, and future. But hey, the Holy Bible is no ordinary writing.
So, all of these are things I will figure out as I go along.
Having said that, I do have some ideas about who is likely to NOT benefit from this. The first category is Christians themselves. If you are already a practicing Christian, go to your church and do whatever you need to do. The second category is that of people who have already decided what their belief system is going to be for the rest of their life. This includes even people who say they don’t believe in anything, because that in itself is a system of belief.
But if you are a non-Christian who genuinely wants to understand what Christianity is all about, I am thrilled to have you here and I will try my best to tell you what it is.
